A Lovely Holdiay Weekend...

We had some folks over for a dip in the pool on Monday. It was hot as all get-out here, we had a dash of thunderstorm, then a swim in the pool - it was delicious! However, the air-conditioning back in the house afterwards was a bit... chilling... (at least until we got used to it!)

After that, Terry and I hennaed on folks... I covered most of the ( Read more... )

Geez! What nerve to ask you to give away your designs?! I had someone ask me to do something of the sort before...I used to paint alot of T-shirts. Anyway, I had made a sweatshirt with glittery snowflakes all over it, rather intricate ones at that. A girl I worked with admired my shirt and then asked if I would draw out my designs on paper for her. I asked her why and she said she wanted a shirt like mine. I told her I made and sold shirts for people and I would gladly do one for her.She said that, no-she didn't want to pay for it, she just wanted my designs and for me to tell her to how to do it so she could make one herself!

That's INSANE! Is there no sanity?? Are you doing a free demo at Michael's Craft Store? Geez!!

But... pondering the other side of the coin... how elitist are we? So much of our society has been advanced by the sharing of ideas, for the greater good... and now so much is based on Selling Ideas, and Hoarding Ideas... Ideas (and thus, creativity) are becoming such a "thing" to be lorded over...

Thanks, Sarah! If I were nearby, you'd be covered! (get it? LOL!!) More pix of Mehndi (and a bunch of other stuff)

The Eno is nice - but TOO DURN HOT!! It's INSANELY hot. And humid. You've been to some cool events up your way! ;-)

By any chance is the henna-painting Terry the same Terry with the cement faces who was exhibiting at the Eno?

My guess is the henna artist who remembered you from the RenFaire was down by the Mill and the one who admired your arm and asked for the design was the very short woman up by the Grove Stage (nearby Terry with the cement faces and, as well, just by our booth which was right across from CemenTerry's booth).

Of course, if I'm way off on all counts, my apologies.

Hiya yourself.

We, like most of the people we spoke with who did the Eno on the artist side, didn't have a very good Eno. The weather was too hot and humid, the people who came out were largely not interested in buying much of anything and by the end of the third day we were more than wiped out.

Now we're in Rochester, NY doing a show and staying with a friend. The weather up here is cool, not humid at all and the people seem interested in buying our jewelry. A much better deal all around.

We were set up right across from Terry, going over to his booth every once and a while to hassle him about... whatever.
