In defense of Print

The Millcraft Group and International Paper have created a very interesting video presentation about how darned wonderful Print is, but that video is full of misdirection which hides the true cost of print.

Lets take the one about for every tree cut down, three are planted. How old was the tree planted an how long will it take those three trees to be able to be as useful to the environment? When calculating the impact did they take into account the area left bare by moving the saplings or the environmental cost farming a tree then relocating it?

As one viewer asked "at :59 in, it says that a average US data center consumes 24% more per year, while Pulp and Paper are down 42%. What unit of measurement are you using?" This leads me to also ask - how much more energy would the homes of data center employees use if they were at home or another job instead of working in a data center.

I love print but this really smacks of desperation and fear brought on by a diminishing market. Add that to the fact this feels like for every half truth they tell us three lies, and this video just doesn't work for me on a basic level. It's not that you couldn't defend print, but they didn't offer enough real facts or present enough critical information so this feels like a smoke job.
