so I am back from my trip to Tejas. It really reminded me of why I used to miss texas so much. The open container law has changed so you can no longer drive in texas with your passengers openly drinking. I was really looking forward to that. But you can buy beer on sunday till 9 pm. And you can not drink in public past the time that beer is sold. I thought that kinda made sense.
The roads in texas are extra wide, the shoulder is just as big as the main lane on most highways. And the shoulder is smooth and clear of debris, this is so that you can drive on the shoulder to let people pass you if they are driving faster than you. People just move out of your way all the time, it is great. Plus you have a clean shoulder to change a flat tire or do some quick road work which is great. I hate rolling around in broken glass to change a flat tire, as if the situation does not already such enough.
Speaklng of sucky situations. I really wish my chicken ****** of a roomate would contact me and let me know what is up with payment of the power bill. Last year nobody wanted to take on the responsibility of the power bill so I offered to be responsible for it, now I am going to get footed with part of the bill. What is up with that? Lee I am talking to YOU. Call me, if anyone knows if he still lives, relay him the message. And we better not have a cleaning fee put on us bc you left all your trash all over the apartment. I am annoyed.
Anyways, chris and brian can give payment to brian. I plan on stopping by there one day when I am in atlanta. Brian, if you need to know where brian lives or how to contact him, please talk to chris. Chris works with brian and can tell you where he lives. Power bill was 235 and we should have one more coming in later, hopefully much smaller.
Once again congrats to christopher and his lovely lady Katie.
So yea texas was fun, I got to drive my car, which most of you know how happy that makes me. Saw some old friends, dave is just as crazy as ever. I got to drive my dad's dually diesel dodge ram, that is a big truck and it is quite fun. Rather intimidating to other cars, plus it gets close to 30 mpg and it is diesel so the fuel costs less. Wish my truck was diesel, oh well.
the drive from here in annistion to college station texas was about 13 hours, making a fair bit of stops. College station is a college town of course, duh. Texas A&M University. Great college town, good bar scene and fun little restaurants like free birds(serves burritos like Moes but better and they have a Harley coming out of this brick wall with pieces of the actual berlin wall attached to it). The movie theatre has movies starting as late as 2 am, the bowling alley is 24 hours. A town that really caters to the young. Hmm do I want to move back? Parents got a nice house out away from city, that way my dad can be loud with his cars. He is building a 70 ft x 30 ft garage for his toys, should be cool. My car will have a new temporary home.
My dad gave me a crescent tool set to carry in my truck, so I have a good set of basic wrenches, sockets, and screw drivers. I also got to eat way too much, my mom was much better this time about not cooking too many meals but still too much food for just my father and I. I still feel full I think.
Today is going by rather slowly, that is why I am updating. I finished my project even though I think they added more to it and I am supposed to be assigned to something else now. But i cant find anyone to tell me what is going on so I am just chilling here.
hmm Texas, people seem to be in better shape and a fair bit of cute girls, hehe. Obesity does not seem to be nearly as rampant, I need to hit the gym. I did not see nor meet any crazy rednecks. The education system is much better, Not sure what it is now but when I left their education system was ranked 10th among the states. And college station was ranked particularly high because of all the talent that was brought in from the university. Anyways I felt like I dealt with less dumbasses and the racism was much less prevelant. Made me feel more comfortable in general. It is weird to try to explain, but less glares and rudeness.
It was hot though, the tempature was higher but I felt a little better. Not sure if it was because of the humidity maybe being less or because the altitude. But the heat just seemed more tolerable to me, it was just straight heat. Kinda like oven heat sometimes. Not sure how to explain it, well I guess I am rambling. off to wander around
i am sure i will think of more later
