What I Watched: (Week of January 18th-January 24th)

Jan 24, 2015 21:33

Three weeks! This week I watched the season finale of TNT's The Librarians. I also watched ABC's Galavant and Agent Carter, as well as  FOX's Gotham. Plus, I checked out some new Korean dramas: Kill Me, Heal Me; My Heart Twinkle Twinkle, and Shine or Go Crazy. I then checked out the Japanese school drama Gakkou no Kaidan. Overall, a great week for television.

January 18th: (Sunday)

The Librarians - Episodes nine and ten aired this week. Again, the episodes were out of order: episode nine was supposed to be episode eight and episode ten was the season finale. Though, it honestly felt like a mid-season finale rather than a season finale.  Some questions were answered; however there are still plenty of questions up in the air. I don’t know if there will be a season two, but I really hope there is. I really want to see more of Jake, Cassandra, and Jones.

Galavant - Episodes five and six. Just one more week to go, apparently. I really love the chemistry of the cast and all the fun songs. I think the show had great pacing and nice character development. Honestly I don’t think it would work well as a regular twenty-two episode a year show. However, I really do hope ABC brings it back next winter as a “limited” show while Once Upon a Time is on its winter hiatus.  I just really want to see more of these characters.

January 19th: (Monday)

Gotham - After a week break, Gotham is back.  The mob story line played a large role. I have stated it before, but I’ll state it again: I may like/love/enjoy all the characters involved in the mob story line. I just don’t love the mob stories. I’m sort of just waiting for it to go somewhere else. Thankfully, it really f just waiting for it to go somewhere else. Thankfully, it'd in the mob story line. I just don'took off this week. I’m excited to see where the mob stuff goes. Jim’s story was good. I’m glad he’s back where he belongs. I’m also really hoping they explore the Jim/Leslie stuff. I love that crazy chemistry. Oh, and Barbara continues to be a poorly written character, who should probably leave for a while.

January 20th: (Tuesday)

Agent Carter - Episode four of this limited series. I still really enjoy Peggy and the Peggy and Jarvis relationship. I actually really like all the relationships (and different aspects of them) that Peggy has with everyone. It’s such an adventure to see her grow and change after the events of the Captain America film.  I love the show; however, I sort of hope that this stays a “limited” series.  Like it comes every mid-year while other shows are on winter breaks. I think it will work really well as that.

January 21st: (Wednesday)

Kill Me, Heal Me - A new Korean drama. I watched episodes 1-4 of the new drama, which stars Ji Sung as Cha Do Hyun, a billionaire that suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder and Hwang Jung Eum as Oh Ri Jin, a first-year Psychiatrist resident (who the drama descriptions say has bi-polar disorder) who treats him secretly. The drama deals with mental illness and the toll it can take on people. I personally really love the chemistry between the two leads. I also think Ji Sung is doing a great job at playing seven different personalities.  I just have to side-eye the fact that every time a new personality takes over: Do Hyun’s eyes glass over and he appears to be in physical pain. I don’t know much about D.I.D., but I doubt that is how a person’s personalities switch.

January 22nd: (Thursday)

As I have mentioned, I have class from 12:30-7:50, so nothing gets watched on Thursdays.

January 23rd: (Friday)

Shine or Go Crazy - I watched episodes one and two of this new weekend Korean drama. The lead couple has some nice chemistry and I’m interested in where the story will go.  I look forward to seeing more.

Gakkou no Kaidan - A new school drama from Japan; I watched the first two episodes. It’s a fairly standard story: a middle class girl is granted a scholarship to a rich high school, due to the fact that her old high school closed. The students (and teachers) live in fear of and are secretly ruled by a group of the eight richest students. Our Heroine is somehow elected president of the student counsel. She meets a mysterious young man, who offers to help her fix her corrupt school - via the power of words. It’s a little clichéd and predictable, but it is enjoyable.

January 24th: (Saturday)

My Heart, Twinkle Twinkle - Episodes 1-2 of this new Korean drama. I really love the idea of daughters taking revenge for their father. These first two episodes were just complete set up. I think I’ll try and keep it going, but I’m just not sure if I really love it yet.
