I ended up going to
The Bagdad Café right up the street and reading
The Children of Húrin. I feel satisfied that my night hasn't been boring but instead has been somewhat productive in that I made time to read, something I've been trying to do more often.
Lately, I've been reading a lot - I find that it helps me feel less lonely and less restless. I've developed a fondness for the works of
Milan Kundera - I fell in love with his writing after reading
The Unbearable Lightness of Being, after which I read
The Book of Laughter and Forgetting and Immortality, which were equally good.
I have also recently decided to give J.R.R. Tolkien another chance - I re-read
The Hobbit and didn't find it as boring as I remembered it being, and am now about halfway through The Children of Húrin, which has been quite enjoyable. I'm going to give
The Lord of the Rings trilogy another go as well.
I think I'll read a few more chapters, take a long, hot bath and go to bed, even though it's only 23:00.
Happy Leap Year.
My neck STILL hurts. Like, TOTALLY hurts.
One of these days I'll have a doctor, and be able to get pain meds or something. Advil is not cutting it anymore. :(
