MAYFIELD IN GENERAL

RIZA HAWKEYE
The Hawk's Eye
Hails from: Full Metal Alchemist
"I'm a sniper, attach the last name to that thought and you'll never forget."
A Lieutenant of the Amestrian State Military, as well as a sharpshooter and weapons specialist. Riza Hawkeye was one of the first people to talk to Balin after his appearance in Mayfield. She has been incredibly helpful in briefing him on the town and its dangers, not to mention gave him the first real shock that people from entirely different realities are trapped here. Later, when the town suffered from the effects of a truth serum gas, Riza was compelled into considering herself a war criminal over events in the Ishvalan Civil War. Despite those confessions, Balin doesn't think any worse of Riza; her account of the war made it clear that she herself did nothing wrong in Balin's eyes, especially since Riza disclosed that Amestris is being controlled by a conspiracy that she and others within the State Military are trying to stop. In fact, knowing the latter has further improved Balin's opinion of Riza; whatever wrongs she may have committed, she is dedicating to righting them.
Balin and Riza share common ties as soldiers, and despite the confessions she was forced to make, Balin sees her as someone who's on the level-so far, at least.

OLIVIER ARMSTRONG
The Northern Wall of Briggs
Hails from: Full Metal Alchemist
"Nothing happens normally in this Truth-forsaken place, they have to make it complicated."
A Major General of the Amestrian State Military, and commander of Fort Briggs. Balin first met Olivier after she witnessed Balin's painful regain his Tabula, and helped him get back on his feet. Balin doesn't really know what to make of Olivier yet, despite volunteering for her resistance movement, and despite her cordial behavior when they first met. This is because her name is on the Accomplished Murderers list from Mayfield's population control incident; until Balin has a chance to sit down and talk with Olivier to figure out just what happened, he's going to be wary of her. Of course, she does outrank him as a Major General, so regardless of his true feelings, they'll be addressed through proper military protocol.

SIDESWIPE
Autobot Warrior
Hails from: Transformers (Movie continuity)
"I am a guardian... or... I was. Now? Not so much. But still a damned good soldier."
An Autobot built and bred for war. Balin had the unfortunate circumstance of first talking to Sideswipe while Mayfield was under the influence of a truth serum. Sideswipe admitted over the phone that he had killed innocent humans without a care while in pursuit of a Decepticon when he first came to Earth, something which enraged Balin and caused him to argue with Sideswipe about it. That Sideswipe now regrets what he did-not to mention talking to him further-has helped mitigate Balin's anger, but Balin isn't sure he should forgive purposeful slaughter of innocent people so easily.

GARVIEL LOKEN
Former Captain of the Luna Wolves 10th Company, 16th Legio Astartes
Hails from: Warhammer 40,000 (Horus Heresy Era)
"Give me ten of my battle-brothers and our wargear and we will see about that.
No Xenos has ever stood against us. Not Ork, not Eldar, not Megarachnid."
A space marine (Adeptus Astartes) from thirty thousand years in the future. Balin first spoke to Garviel when Mayfield was under the effects of a truth serum gas. Balin has an implicit trust in Garviel, as the man seeks to protect humanity from all dangers and the enforced honesty from the truth gas only underlined this. Combined with his status as a senior officer from his former unit, Garviel is one of the few people that Balin would trust to take command of a situation in Mayfield-he's certainly the only one in Mayfield that Balin's felt an immediate trust in doing so. However, Garviel's religious (and overt) devotion to secularism makes Balin uneasy, though he does find the irony in Garviel's behavior amusing.

HAL JORDAN
The Green Lantern
Hails from: DC Universe
(No quotable interaction yet!)
Balin briefly spoke to Hal while Mayfield was subject to a truth gas. Their conversation was brief, but Balin is now aware that Hal served in the American armed forces, although he presently thinks Hal is a Marine, due to the superhero's mention of "the Corps." Nevertheless, as another soldier and potential ally against Mayfield and its malicious inhabitants, Balin wants to get to know Hal better.

THE MAJOR
Commanding Officer of Millenium
Hails from: Hellsing
"I'm in agreement and disagreement.
A terrible place for harmony. A wonderful place for war."
A Nazi officer from World War II that was tasked with creating a battalion of vampires in the wake of Germany's defeat. Balin has only had intermittent contact with the Major thus far, and he's found the man to have a delight for morbid topics. Several people have already warned Balin about the threat the Major poses to everyone in the town, but Balin has yet to realize that he's already been talking with the Major, since the Major has yet to introduce himself to Balin.

SHANA (YUKARI HIRAI)
Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter
Hails from: Shakugan no Shana
"Oh, it's you again."
A Flamehaze (a former human that contracted with a Crimson Lord), who took on the identity of a friend's dead classmate. So far, Balin has only briefly spoken to this girl a few times, and so Balin doesn't have much of an opinion about her yet-as far as first impressions have gone, though, Shana has come off as being confident and somewhat cocky.

HAROLD DAVID CROSHAW
Sniper for Reliable Excavation Demolition
Hails from: Team Fortress 2
"I guess that's wot makes 'oover runs this place a brilliant bastard--you start out as a normal Civilian, and 'ave t' earn your things back boi following their rules. Boi and boi you just get used t' it all. Look at me, I 'aven't popped anybody's 'ead off in months."
A mercenary in the employ of a corporate conspiracy. So far, Balin's found Harold to be likable and easygoing, as well as generous; though Harold's right that Mayfield's money means little, that the sniper would freely supply other residents with his stash of firearms and train them in gun safety means a lot to Balin. Balin currently feels like he owes Harold a favor for letting him borrow the Colt .45 and Remington 870 he's been using, though if he ever finds out what Harold does to drones in times of extreme stress, he definitely won't like it.

SUSAN STO HELIT
The Granddaughter of Death
Hails from: Discworld
"Do try to understand. You're not the hero of this story, and the rest of us aren't helpless civilians waiting for a savior to come along. Everyone seems to think they're different, for some reason that I imagine has something to do with fantastically large egos.
I'll admit I thought the same thing myself."
A teacher from the Duchy of Sto Helit. She currently continues her vocation at Mayfield High. Balin's found her to be sarcastic, which doesn't bother him much. He's at least grateful for her permission-such as it was-to use the chemistry labs for his projects. Beyond this, Balin hasn't had much contact with Susan and doesn't have much an opinion of her yet.

THE CAPTAIN
He's the ☠☠☠☠ Captain
Hails from: Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.
"With how often they take powers away, it doesn't ☠☠☠☠ matter.
I am still going to try and use it though."
A boozehound superhero from Brooklyn with super strength, flight, and indestructibility (but not invulnerability). Balin met the Captain after he hastily put on a fireworks show for fellow superheroine Misfit-by setting off fireworks strapped to his body. The Captain strikes Balin as not putting a lot of forethought into his plans, but a well-meaning guy all the same. Balin has gotten to know The Captain a bit more after their initial meeting, and so far he's gotten along well with him. The Captain shares a mutual interest in fighting back against the jailers in charge of Mayfield, and may be one of the few people who can safely keep Balin from doing something he'd regret, if he is ever turned into a killer drone.

ELIZABETH
Velvet Room Assistant
Hails from: Persona 3
"The trial is what causes growth, otherwise it would simply be trading one good for another."
The servant of Igor in the Velvet Room, a place between the conscious and subconscious. When Balin first spoke to her, she had recently regained her coin purse and was offering quests to those interested. So far, Balin isn't sure what to make of Elizabeth, but he figures that anyone who seeks to fight Mayfield's attempts to drive people into killing sprees can't be bad.

PRINCESS CELESTIA
Co-Ruler of Equestria
Hails from: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
"It's very simple for such a complex thing, but really, what is complexity but many simple things atop one another?"
A winged unicorn from Equestria, a world that completely lacks humans. So far, Balin's only met her once, during her initial exploration of Mayfield after waking up in the town. She's also the first pony he's ever met, and the first talking animal he's met to boot. Despite the initial shock, he's had a good first impression of the Princess, though he'd forgotten to exchange names. It shouldn't be a problem, though; it's not like there would be many other talking ponies in town ... right?

DATE FUYUHIKO
The Doctor
Hails from: Cave Story
"... Interesting ... Then he seems to very much be neutral. Those are the types you have to watch carefully... more than your obvious enemies."
The current master of the Demon Crown. At first, Balin thought this guy was just a regular, if curious, hospital doctor, judging from his initial conversation with him. However, during a zombie virus outbreak in Mayfield, Date showed his true colors, having tricked Mayfielders into taking an enhanced version of the virus guised as a vaccine. Since then, Balin considers Date a clear and present danger to the town.

MAO
Dean of Evil Academy
Hails from: Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice
"Last I checked levels and swords didn't have any effect on electricity, though."
An Honor Student and the son of the chairman at the Evil Academy. There's little Balin actually knows of Mao, having only talked to him briefly a few times-but he has a sense that Mao might have some loose morals, since during the Halloween incident of 195X+3, Mao was all too willing to dissect his pod clone-while it was still alive and conscious.

RAZPUTIN "RAZ" AQUATO
Acrobatic Psychic Wunderkind
Hails from: Psychonauts
"Huh! Oh, hey, I didn't realize you weren't all drones down there!"
A psychic boy who attends the Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp, used by the government to train children with psychic potential as Psychonauts. Balin's only met Raz once so far, during the streak of campy B-Movie-like incidents in Halloween of 195X+3. Balin hasn't had enough time to really form an opinion of the kid, although he was rather agitated by Raz's herding the drones into a stampede while supersized by the town.

WES JANSON
Major of New Republic Starfighter Command
Hails from: Star Wars
"In my experience it's best to bring something that big down first if you don't have anything heavy at your disposal."
A famous fighter pilot and soldier of the Rebel Alliance (and later the New Republic), who has been part of of the Yellow Aces, Rogue Squadron, and Wraith Squadron. Balin's only met Wes a few times so far, and only briefly each time; but he's fascinated by the prospect of meeting a real starfighter pilot, considering that the Army of Allied Free Sentients has little space presence, preferring the use of wormhole technology on planets to move forces. Wes is definitely someone Balin wants to get to know better.

HAGINOSUKE TAKI
Student of Hyoutei Academy
Hails from: Prince of Tennis
"So you mean that they won't let me use the name 'Taki'?
But I am far more used to being called that when I'm not at home."
A young student who was formerly one of the regulars of Hyoutei Academy's tennis team. Balin first spoke to the kid when he arrived during the events of Halloween 195X+3, and gave him a comprehensive rundown of the situation they were now in. He hasn't heard from Haginosuke since, but from the conversation they had, Balin has some concerns about how well Haginosuke will be able to deal with the deadly games Mayfield's masters play.
