So, today I wound up waking up, and realizing something about Tsukihime. It's a big one too, so I ask that if you don't want to read spoilers, don't read this rant.

Spoiling the game, yay~ )

Well, while killing SHIKI is the point of the game, I always though that the point of Kohaku's plan was to kill the Tohno family, and I'm not sure that Makihisa was drugged so much as killed by Kohaku.

You do bring up a point of what Shiki's planned role was supposed to be. My understanding was that, as Shiki wasn't really a Tohno, whether he died or not was not important, as long as Akiha and SHIKI died. I wonder what she would've done if Akiha and Shiki died, but not SHIKI?

Well, that's where things get a little debatable. Supposedly, the point of Kohaku's plan was to wipe out the entire Tohno family, but at the same time, it's implied that she would have rather had Akiha live, which would seem to imply that her real targets were just Makihisa and SHIKI, and Akiha was just a means to an end.

What confounds me though about Shiki just being there to distract Akiha is that - and Kohaku knew this - that for Shiki to be there to distract Akiha, Hisui would have had to be there too, and Kohaku's supposedly doing it all to protect Hisui, so uhh... If things didn't work out the way they did in the game, her plan would've just served to put Hisui in danger...

It's possible then that Akiha killing SHIKI would've been the most optimal mishap.

However, Kohaku may not have realized that Hisui would follow Shiki, keep in mind she hadn't left the manor in years for any reason.
