Random revelations

So, today I wound up waking up, and realizing something about Tsukihime. It's a big one too, so I ask that if you don't want to read spoilers, don't read this rant.

Kohaku's plan makes no sense. The game claims that it's the perfect plan from start to finish, preparing for absolutely everything so that her revenge would go off without a hitch, and it seems like it is, too... because the game itself seems to emphasize that it went off so perfectly. On the other hand... the success of the plan wound up happening solely due to events she knew nothing about. You'll see what I mean once you notice the key components of her plan here, and what she knew about them...

Kohaku's Great Plan:
01. Indirect Component: Shiki is from a family of demon hunters. (check, this is what Kohaku knows)
02. Indirect Component: Shiki gains the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception (check, but there's no way Kohaku knows this.)
03. Kohaku Action: Drug Makihisa and SHIKI to further their insanity (check)
04. Kohaku Action: Turn SHIKI against Makihisa through the use of drugs and convincing that Makihisa was trying to "get rid of him" (check)
05. Indirect Component: Akiha calls Shiki back to the mansion (check, she probably knew this one would happen)
06. Kohaku Action: Drug Shiki, working to convince him that he's the psychotic killer running around. (check)
07. Kohaku Action: Give Shiki his old family's knife so that he has a weapon to kill SHIKI with (check)
08. Indirect Component: Shiki faces off against vampires, experiences an Inversion Impulse, and kills Satsuki using the Eyes of Death Perception (check, Kohaku probably doesn't know about this, but it works on furthering convince Shiki he's the killer.)
09. Indirect Component: SHIKI's powers wind up degrading Shiki's psyche, convincing him that he's definately the killer. (check, Kohaku must know this for her plan to have any hope of working.)
10. Kohaku Action: With Shiki completely out of control of his body, Kohaku rapes him while disguised as Hisui, enabling him to move again, but with his degraded psyche he rapes her afterwards. (Check, Kohaku probably figured it would turn out that way.)
11. Indirect Component: Shiki eventually winds up wandering to where Akiha's feeding on Kohaku's blood (Check, definately planned)
12. Kohaku Action: With Shiki watching, Kohaku makes sure to ask Akiha if SHIKI's behind it, knowing full well that Shiki doesn't know about SHIKI. Akiha states that she'll have to kill SHIKI. (Check, as mentioned before, absolutely planned)
13. Indirect Component: Shiki falls into a pit of paranoia due to his degraded psyche, making him completely lose it at Akiha. (Check check check. Still planned.)
14. Kohaku Action: Kohaku and Akiha go off to kill SHIKI and save Shiki. (Check, all going according to plan.)
15. Indirect Component: Hisui helps Shiki regain his sanity, and tells Shiki the truth. Shiki realizes that he has to be the one to fight SHIKI. (Check, all according to Kohaku's plan.)
16. Kohaku Action: As Shiki and Hisui arrive at the battlefield, Kohaku distracts Akiha, allowing SHIKI to try and kill her. (This is according to plan.)
17. Indirect Component: Akiha takes the blow for Kohaku, dies from it. (Check. According to Kohaku, it had a 50/50 chance of happening.)

...Ok, now here's the significant part. I'll bold this section because of its significance.

18. Indirect Component: SHIKI, shocked at having killed Akiha, runs away and tries to kill himself. He fails miserably. (Check, apparently planned by Kohaku.)
19. Indirect Component: Shiki, thoroughly pissed off with what happened, faces off against SHIKI on his own, and using the Eyes of Death Perception, easily kills him. (Check, no fucking way Kohaku could have predicted this without knowledge of the eyes.)

So, uhh... what would have happened without the eyes? Probably something along these lines:

20. Indirect Component: SHIKI, unable to kill himself, snaps and kills everyone in the area in a fit of rage.

He's done similar on other paths, so he's definitely capable of it. Of course, this possibility has apparently been completely ignored by Kohaku, who's apparently certain that a demon hunter with absolutely no powers and an ordinary knife will somehow kill an uber-demon that can't even get killed by itself. Of course, considering that the whole point of the plan was to kill SHIKI, you would think this would be the most heavily planned part. So why the heck is it the part that depends most on sheer dumb luck?

...So yeah, done ranting. It doesn't make any sense at all to me.
