Dear Kansas,
Thank you for changing the definition of science to include supernatural intervention. No really, this makes my job as a future scientist much much easier. I don't have to worry about extended or frustrating research about topics i don't currently understand or can't currently explain. i can just say "hey, must be the designer made it that way, and i'm sure it's too complex for me to ever comprehend".
Come on people! the PURPOSE of science is to try to make sense of things we don't currently understand. that's the reason it exists. Intelligent design just truncates the whole scientific method.
Now, you can believe whatever you want to believe. But don't call it science. A scientific theory has to be predictive and FALSIFIABLE. That means you have to be able to test it. Teaching something that cannot be tested or falsified is what you do in church. Not school.
If ID had called itself a religious view or a belief system there would be no problem. But there would also be no reason to include it mandatorily in public school curriculum, and so, it calls itself science.
repeat after me:
INTELLIGENT DESIGN IS NOT SCIENCE. IT DOES NOT BELONG IN SCIENCE CLASSROOMS.
