Vision for the Future.

Someone recently emailed me privately to ask what I'm going to do with my life. It was a friendly and welcome "inspirational" question - so, no worries. In response I sent them the first thing that came to mind:

"--bleach my hair and get breast augmentation."

^_^

Well, okay, maybe not. Maybe I am actually happy with me, just as I am.

Even before the "whatcha-gunna-do-lil-pilgrim" note, I'd begun giving the "vision for the future" thing a reappraisal. I'm considering getting a doctorate. There are a couple of fairly prestigious institutions that deliver distance learning opportunities. I'm hoping that I can figure out a way to move to Bellingham, and write my dissertation "from a distance."

On the downside, if I don't attend an on-site graduate regime, I can't get a campus teaching gig. On the upside, I can focus on research and writing rather than social distractions. Of course, they do say Ithaca is pretty in the Spring
