He ran towards the TARDIS doors, Amy following behind him.
“Now, you know what I keep in here?”
“What?”
He grinned, “Absolutely everything.”
And with that, he threw open the doors and showed her the universe.
It was the moment he waited for every time he picked a new companion.
It didn’t matter how long it lasted, or what caused it, all that mattered was that look they would get: complete wonder. It was beautiful, how their faces would just light up from the inside, and he loved it every time.
He used to feel it, back when he was just starting out, but he had long grown used to it. He made the entire universe his backyard; everything was familiar to him now, nothing was as exciting or special as it once was to him.
He missed that feeling more than he could ever say. The only way he could bring it back, even for just a moment, was through his friends. And, now it was Amy’s turn.
She didn’t disappoint him. Her entire face just seemed to glow from wonder as she gazed out, completely speechless, and she was just so beautiful and bright that he almost couldn’t look at her.
And, for a moment at least, he could feel it too.
