I'm part of the way through about a dozen books. But I've been dedication so much time to the game, and blog and actual-play reading though, that my book-reading has suffered. As you can see, although I once routinely finished about 50 books a year this year I'm headed for about 8.
I liked it. And a female lead who is neither a boy-of-another-gender nor merely the romantic focus of male characters is a nice touch. It was the latter that really sold me on Katniss as a character. She forms emotional bonds, but she has no idea if she loves her various male peers, her feelings are complicated. It seemed a very "real" thing in a fairly unreal set-up.
