My top two musicals for the moment are:
Les Miserables
This is probably the best musical ever. It isn't usually my favorite, but it's the best. ONE broke parole so TWO is after him. THREE is fired by ONE for having illegitimate child FOUR who's been raised by unscrupulous FIVE and SIX. Their daughter, SEVEN, loves EIGHT. But EIGHT doesn't notice because he's infatuated with FOUR, who's been taken in by ONE. EIGHT is involved in a revolt (a failed precurser to the revolution) and TWO is assigned to end this revolt, but he's also still obsessed with arresting ONE. It's complicated, no? It can only be done as a musical.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Sweeney is a barber who slits people's throats. His friend and neighbor, Mrs. Lovett, bakes them into meat pies. Subplots and minor details include: rape, treachery, an Italian, a beggar woman, and a high-pitched romance. What more could I want?
There's quite a few more that I love. But I'm too lazy to go on a spree about musicals at 11:15.
By the way, my cellphone was stolen last Thursday. It's now disconnected from service so don't even hope for an answer if you call it. Don't bother calling my cell. Call me at home if you need me or maybe if you don't need me but you've just finished all your finals at ASU and you haven't seen me in a while and we really ought to hang out sometime. Call me at home or something.
Now, everybody, go read Karl Marx's The Communist Manifesto.
Now slap yourself for reading Marx befor Focault and Nietzsche.
