So I´ve been here for 4 days now... and things have finally started to settle down. Ok... first off. The writing on the screen is microscropic... so if my typing is bad... it´s because I can´t see what I am typing at all! Anyways, things are going pretty well here. My roomates seem really nice - so far only 2 have arrived - a girl (Petra) from Holland and a guy (Heiko) from Germany. Wolfgang has yet to show up. My apartment is great! We live on the 8th floor... so it´s a bit scary looking down off the balcony... but the rooms have great, bright colours and it´s nice and clean. It´s right in the centre of the city - so EVERYTHING is nearby... restaurants, bars, shops, the beach. It´s only a 15 min bus ride to school... and the stop is right outside my door. So it´s great!
Last night we went out to a party for the international students... it was kind of lame... there were far too many people to really meet anyone... and they only played dance music. And I really have no clue how to dance to that kind of music... so my roomates and I went home pretty early. They are totally insane here! Bars open at midnight or so... most people show up around 2... and the bars are open until at least 6 am!!
Things are pretty different here... some things I have noticed:
1) 65 degrees used to be really cold for our house... now if my room gets up to 65 I´m really excited because that´s hot! (There isn´t any insulation in the houses... and the nights are pretty cool)
2) There seem to be a lot of unisex bathrooms here... which is a bit odd. Although the other day I really had to pee and I was looking around for a bathroom... I found one and I looked at the sign and was like, ¨I guess that looks like a woman in a dress¨. So I went in, peed, and then on my way out I notived urinals... so I go out (hoping, ofd course, that no one has seen the oh-so-obviously-foreign girl go into the men´s bathroom) and realize that it wasn´t a woman but a man with a shirt and pants on! But then today I was in a building and the only bathroom sign I could find was that same man... so I don´t know if there are just more men´s bathrooms or if the man is just the national-wide sign for a bathroom. *sigh* I´ll figure it out eventually though... even if I do make a huge fool of myself! lol.
3) There are clocks on the buses! It´s not very exciting... but it is cool!
Anyways, I´m having a pretty good time. I had a friend today. lol. I´m sure I´ll make more! I also took lots of photos, but they will have to wait until I get internet in my apartment!
