Apartments, Part II

Yesterday Mom and I went to look at some efficiency apartments in Ypsi.

For the most part, they were either hot, dirty and as tiny as dorm rooms or out of our price range.

One of the landlords didn't show up, and when I called to politely remind her that I would be able to make our appointment, she said it "seemed" to her "that that appointment had been cancelled." But she did remember showing an apartment to an Alexis in May, but she had never received an application from her, and wasn't I her? Because I did sound familiar. Not that she remembered talking to me last week or anything. She wouldn't be able to make it out there for another hour, at which time I had another appointment. I told her I'd call and make another appointment.

Heck no am I going to do that. If I rented an apartment from her, she'd probably forget I was there and rent it to somebody else.

Other sights included a bird's nest inside a wall fan and an apartment still filled with the old furniture - complete with dirty litterbox - of a family that had abandoned it.

I left Ypsi that afternoon feeling pretty sucky about the whole apartment thing, but then again I was also hot, tired and thirsty.

After a couple hours of recovery, I started thinking about one of the tiny apartments I'd seen. This one was about the size of my Towers room, I think, if not even a little smaller. It only had one window and was very hot, but then it didn't have any fans on. It had a dividing wall between the kitchen and living area, which gave it kind of a cozy feel. And I started mentally furnishing it. So now that I've picked out my color scheme and decided on the furniture layout and started googling for futons (because I woudn't have room for both a sofa and a bed), I'm thinking maybe I should get that one.
