So weird week, everyone had the same dream? Whatever, I bet it was just something in the water! Government conspiracies? still doesn't explain why Ivan and everyone else was there... Whatever the reason, there is an unruly American at his door some odd hours later, grinning and looking down at him with a look of astonishment Raivis vaguely feels the need to smack him for. Luckily for them both, Alfred does not follow through with a gesture that looks suspiciously as though it would have turned into a pat on the head. Several times he slips up and refers to his guest as 'Mister Jones' and several times more than that, he is reminded that no, it's 'Alfred' and no, you're 'Raivis, not Mister Galante'. He turns the conversation toward his confusion with emoticons and avoids any further embarrassment of that sort.
Not that there is a significant lack of it later on. When Alfred inquires into the nature of his native tongue, Raivis panics a little and starts ranting in it. Turns his burning face away when the other man laughs and hesitantly answers questions about what means what- smiling slightly at each horribly butchered pronunciation because Alfred might not be able to speak eloquently, but he at least has enthusiasm for it.
That's the factor that surprises Raivis most. His apparent drive to impress. When the situation calls for quiet, Alfred doesn't interfere and it clashes greatly with the fleeting impressions he's had of the American thus far. As they watch space mercenaries trapeze amongst the stars, he waits for interruptions that don't come. Not until Alfred's phone goes off and signifies some variety of event he needs to depart for. Raivis automatically nods through everything the man says, flushing as he offers a farewell in Latvian, staring at the hand he uses to wave Alfred out the door.
Why did he even-?
He shrugs, goes back to watching a few more episodes before he figures Peter will probably enjoy this series and switches out to Ouran instead.
Alfred F. Jones. A friend?
For now.]
