Since they started Doctor Who back up, I've gotten my mother interested in watching the new series on CBC.
So on Monday she came over to my place and I started explaining to my mom the past history behind Doctor Who and his travelling companions, because this episode included a couple of characters from a previous series (Sarah Jane and K-9). Why do I know this? Because when I was a kid I used to watch the reruns on PBS and CBC. ALL the reruns. Including the black and white oldies from the 60s. (My favourite was Tom Baker with the long scarf though.)
My mom's comment regarding all my knowledge: "I let the TV babysit you too much, didn't I."
Me: "Um, yes."
Mom: *Gives me a weird look and sighs.* "Well, at least you turned out okay. And you have all these strange bits of knowledge."
I had enough problems explaining the Daleks, why I got all excited when they showed up, and why they were actually supposed to be scary robot-y things, not odd looking trash cans with plungers hooked on them. I'm still not sure how I'm going to explain the Cybermen....
I am SUCH a geek.
