Well, I'm in near-terminal sugar shock, my tongue is bright blue, and there may still be green icing in my eyebrows. That was great!
Laura, Alice, and Alyssa came over, and we made peppermint-chocolate-chip cookies, peppermint bark, butterscotch bars (which are monstrosities of peanut butter, chocolate, and butterscotch which seem too over-the-top to actually be tasty but then are), and sugar cookies, which we decorated extravagantly with icing. We took breaks in the middle to go online and watch Potter Puppet Pals and Flight of the Conchords, and another break wherein Laura and Alice napped while Alyssa and I walked the dogs. We had Christmas music on repeat, and just kept on. Our teamwork was excellent. Finally, exhausted, we finished icing the sugar cookies (our last creation), and I went to wash the icing out of the muffin tin, but there was just so much left, it seemed really wasteful. Of course, I had already consumed waaay too much sugar to want to eat it . . . There are mirrors over our sink, and I looked at them, pondering my dilemna. Then, very slowly and thoughtfully, I smeared the purple icing into streaks on my cheekbones. When my friends saw it, they cracked up, and so began a face-painting session which ended with all of us covered in icing. I looked like a sugary Uruk-hai, with a big green handprint on my face (covering my sad attempt at a green-and-gold linked W and M, and my purple-and-gold Prince Edward stripes); Alice had every color smeared together, and looked rather like a sunrise; Laura and Alyssa had done their school colors. We took pictures. So, next time you think "girl bonding" . . . :P
