So on Monday, my brother Jon arrived at William & Mary, the plan being for him to hang out with me and his friend Andy (a freshman there), then to spend the night in Andy's room before driving Andy and me home after my Tuesday-morning exam.
It was a fun evening; Andy bought four pizzas with his Flex, and Becky and Ashton and I helped Jon and him eat them. Then, we went to Skiffy. I got there with Becky and Ashton, as normal, and Jon and Andy arrived a little later. They're both tall and were wearing beige, and they came in and sat on either side of me. Jon asked about a snack machine, and I gave him my card to go get candy. They left. Malcolm said,
"That's not fair! How come Nic gets mysterious Illuminati people and I don't? Are you a Mafia boss?"
Tee hee. :)
So my exam yesterday morning seemed to go pretty well. I'd studied plenty for it, and I liked the class. I recommend it ("Art of Japan") to others at W&M, especially if they still need to fill the non-Western tradition history and culture GER. The same professor apparently also teaches "Art of China" and "Art of India."
Driving home with Jon and Andy was fun. We took the ferry. (Jon, who always ALWAYS gets "randomly selected" to be searched at airports, was randomly selected to have the car searched at the ferry. I called Mom and told her, and she said,
"Isn't that just like Jon?") Also, Andy entertained us by humming theme songs. He took requests, and we listened to Zelda, LotR, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Carribbean, Star Wars, and more. And were silly.
Me: See, when you told me that "I Am Legend" was depressing, I assumed it was one of those movies based on a true story. I knew what it really was, but I'd forgotten. So I was like, "Well, based on the title, it sounds like a football movie." So it sort of became "Remember the Titans" in my head.
. . . Later . . .
Andy: "Remember the Titans" was a great movie. It was the movie that inspired me to play football. *Long pause* If I were bigger, I might have followed through with that inspiration. As it was, I was just inspired.
Andy: *Looking at map* 10 and 31 should come together.
Me: Are you shipping the roads?!
Andy and Jon: *In great confusion* What?
Me: Never mind.
Me: That's insane! Nothing is three times the size of Chicago!
Andy: *Immediately* The moon.
Jon: Yeah, you tell her, Andy.
Andy: *On Christmas decorating* If I had a butler, once a year I would make him go out and find me an elf.
Me: *With feeling* Me too!
Jon: *Laughing* I can just see them both getting the wrong kind of elf, so Andy ends up with this big Legolas elf and Nic gets a Keebler elf.
We ate at Cici's Pizza, which I love, and they were playing the David Bowie and Bing Crosby "Little Drummer Boy" on their music system thingee. Woo!
Upon entering Farmville, we saw six Christmas-light-covered tractors. Ah, home. :P
So we got home. (Yaaay!) I hugged Momdad and petted Tristan and the dogs. We have a tree! Well, we have a thick, fragrant spruce garland/rope made from branches (thus, not killing trees!) wound around a metal frame. It has lights on it. We're going to add ornaments. We also have fudge, courtesy of Sharon Treen! She made a whole container of it just for Jon and me. I'd nearly forgotten that I declared her my god. (Clearly I have strayed.) Praise Sharon!
I dreamed we got tons of snow. I also dreamed that my friend Alyssa and I were upstairs in my room, talking to a creature that looked like one of the stilt-chicken things from "Mirrormask." We got really loud, and Dad yelled at us,
"Can you keep it down? Dad is doing something very important. It's to do with David Bowie."
Of course, I ran to the balcony to see what he was talking about, and there was a flashback. As if it were a movie, even though it was Dad's flashback, I could see it. He had bought me a David Bowie album for Christmas, and on the way back from buying it, he ran into David Bowie at a bus stop. (Of course, in the dream, David Bowie couldn't have been more than thirty years old. David Bowie is eternal! :P) He asked David Bowie to sign it, but he got confused and signed the manilla envelope in which Dad had been carrying the CD instead. Thus, Dad was now trying to find a method of computer scanning to put the signature onto the CD.
When I told Dad about the dream, he sighed and said,
"So much for that surprise." :P
