Sad news for the Babylon 5 fans last via JMS' fan Facebook page. We lost Michael O'Hare to a heart attack. I came into the show late so I didn't see his season when it initially aired. I still haven't finished watching that first season, so I only saw Sinclair later. The voice never quite matched what I expected. But still...

Ray Bradbury has died. At 91, he had a long and creative life, but darned if we didn't think he'd live forever.

The New Yorker has unlocked his last piece from their SF Issue and feels surprisingly apt.

Peter O'Donnell, Modesty Blaise's creator, died at the age of 90. I posted a short tumblr piece with some book covers. Rather unwisely, I watched the 1966 "Modesty Blaise" movie off Netflix Watch Instantly. The movie stars Monica Vitti and Terence Stamp as Modesty and Willie. RIP Edward Woodward, age 79. Goodbye Equalizer.

Eartha Kitt has died of colon cancer at 81. Best known as tv's Catwoman, I also remember her fondly in Broadway's "The Wild Party" with Toni Collette and Mandy Patinkin.

RIP Majel Barrett Roddenberry. Godspeed Number One, farewell Nurse Chapel and bon voyage Luwaxana Troi. May you enjoy a happy tour through all the holy rings of Betazed. We look forward to hearing Enterprise's voice one last time. You will be missed.

Creig Flessel, 1912-2008, had a long and varied career, but he's best known for his artwork of the Golden Age Sandman, Wesley Dodds. He also was a cover artist for Detective and Adventure comics and created the Shining Knight. He continued to keep on drawing right on into his 90s ( Read more... )
