Intelligence

Like I've said, I've needed a break from anime watching, so I dipped my toes into Canadian waters. I've meant to watch the two seasons of "Intelligence" since it aired, but never got around to it. Netflix nicely sent me the first dvd which included the pilot movie and first two episodes. As someone who loves her superheroes, her fight between good and evil, this series is *so* not that at all. "Intelligence" is *all* about the shades of grey. It's about who knows what and how they use that information. Even the good guys aren't afraid to let their hands get dirty and even the bad buys can play the other side a little when it suits them.

Unlike some series though, there are some likable characters. Both leads are fascinating, especially how they play both sides. Ian Tracey always had a slimy air when he was playing a cop on "Da Vinci's Inquest", so he actually works better on the other side. But he's still a family guy. Klea Scott is tough as nails but not unapproachable. Matt Frewer creeps the hell out of me in his role. He's in the "love to hate" category. Camille Sullivan who I liked so much as Suki in Da Vinci is playing the shrill and either drunk or strung out ex-wife. The brother is also a least favorite character. Both characters are so magnificent in shooting themselves in the proverbial foot.

Btw, having watched Da Vinci, I spent far too much time playing the "Spot the Canadian Repertory Company". If I'd been doing the game with drinks, I'd have been loaded by the first hour of the pilot! I'll add that if you're used to the conventionally pretty of most Hollywood shows, this is a breath of fresh air. The diversity is good to see too.

I did enjoy it a lot. It's not nearly as dark as I'd expected. I anticipate getting another DVD soonish.
