Trials: Chapter Thirty
He woke with a start, landing on the floor with a thud.
She poked her head out of the bathroom and laughed softly. "Chris, you know…" she started.
"Audra, you aren't pregnant are you?" he asked quietly as he pushed himself up on his bed.
"No" she eyed him as she approached. "You okay?" she asked gently.
He nodded slightly. "We are married though?" he met her eyes.
She placed her hands on his cheeks peering into his eyes. "Yes, are you sure you're alright?" she asked cautiously.
"And we didn't have a little girl…" he started rubbing his eyes.
"No. Chris, you're starting to scare me…" she started.
"God that was a wild dream" he breathed out.
"Us having a family is a wild dream?" she cocked her head slightly.
He shook his head. "Of course not…but, Shelby and Justin. Matt, they were married. And JC, damn" he shook his head again. "He almost lost his legs and…" he started.
She smiled warmly. "That's my husband, the over-active dreamer" she teased softly.
"It felt real" he murmured.
She brushed a kiss to his cheek. "It's good you woke up, my cousin's coming in and we're supposed to pick her up remember?"
He nodded slightly. "Yeah, I'm just gonna jump in the shower really quick…" he trailed off as he started across the room.
"Hurry, I don't wanna leave Nadia waiting. She's always had trouble with strange men hitting on her in airports…" she trailed off softly before leaving the room.
