the new Mix outlet around Raffles Place opened with not much of any fanfare, there weren't any promotions/ marketing roadshows to draw the crowds, neither were there any discounts at the new outlet...I was glad that I could finally get hold of my dose of smoothie again, since the last Planet Smoothie outlet at Caltex House closed down......but a taste of one of their smoothies last month left me rather disappointed, it was diluted & there was clearly a lack of ingredients, maybe it's because I'm comparing it to what Boost Juice offers, I still get emails from them even though I can no longer patronise them, no thanks to the lack of proximity.......hmmmm.......so I did the next best thing, that was to make my own smoothie.
[no wait, there is actually gonna be a Boost Juice at Vivocity soon, hidden among the shops closer to the sea-side - 2nd level]
I like the fresh supply of fruits & interesting variety of japanese goodies that Istetan supermaket offers.......the Okinawa fair that just ended introduced me to this strange new drink made from bittermelon, at first I thought it was gonna be rather hard to swallow, but it actually tasted alright, very much like certain types of chinese tea. Sifting through the myriad of products on display, it reminded me of how much the japs love their seaweed, this staple food came in different species, some of which I thought looked more like compressed dried grass.......I should've bought one for the sista....cos' it might boost her milk production?....moo, maybe not.
this arvo was spent around the east coast area, the dad made me drive to this restaurant called Hong Kong Tea House (I think), but not before picking up his favourite Kim Choo bak chiang from Joo Chiat place. We had lunch there, the parents had la mien while I tucked into my favourite xiao long bao, I've developed a craving for soup dumplings recently & one of the best I've tasted are still the ones at The Asian Kitchen....and yes, always with finely sliced ginger dipped in cheena vinegar pleaseee...
this Friday's the D & D @ Pan Pac, I can't wait to see some of the colleagues in their costumes...I think it would be hilarious, quite kinky maybe, considering those who will be wearing their sailor-moon outfits........yup, don't forget to jump with absolute vigor, swing your starry starry wands & say "I represent the moon to punish you".......I'm sure an overdose of alcohol on that night might help ease you into that manga-mode.
