First post of 2008! And it looks to be a big year :)
So it's 2008. And what do we know? Here's 10 things...
1) I fell asleep before midnight on New Years Eve. What a nanna I've become! :P but I'm fine with that - there was nothing on I really wanted to do - Northbridge was entirely unappealing this year, and no-one was throwing a real party.
2) Jason and I spent New Years Day at the cinemas - we saw Beowulf 3D, Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium and The Golden Compass - I liked all three. :) Still so many more movies to see though!
3) Speaking of holidays - Christmas lunch was with my family hosted by worfie and ctwd in their beautiful new home, and the food was AMAZING - we ate, and ate, and there was still lots more tasty morsels - thankyou Aidan! We also visited various members of Jason's family over the afternoon, ending up with dinner at his mum's mum's place, and I also dropped around jobaby and novie's place to say hi to everyone there :) Boxing Day we went shopping in Freo (bad mistake, it was PACKED!) and then spent the afternoon/evening soaking in Jason's supervisor's pool, avoiding the 44 degree heat :P
4) I got promoted at work :) I now have people reporting to me - it's been four years since that was the case (in Singapore) but I feel a lot readier for it this time - I've also got the support I need from other managers, rather than floundering in the deep end alone like last time. It will be a good challenge :)
5) I also got accepted into a Masters degree in management at Uni. Between that and my new position I'm probably going to be really busy!
6) To prevent the previous two points causing a repeat of last year - one of my new years resolutions is to spend more time with my friends. So hopefully you guys will see more of me this year than last year (which I admit was pretty terrible - i miss all you guys!)
7) We caught up for dinner with xejon on Friday night (as he is in town for a few days) - we ate at Lido in Northbridge (along with three bottles of wine) and then came home and drank some more - it was a lot of fun to hang out with him :) And I had a really good time at kai_el_solo and Steven's last night watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and Wanda Sykes, while Mum and Jason were at a metal gig at Amplifier :P
8) While Jason and I were minding his parents house over the break, one of his dogs passed away - it was very sad (and not our fault) - it was very eerie finding the dog, putting the body in the car and taking it down to the vet hospital though. A singular experience that I hope not to repeat any time soon.
9) On a much happier note, it's Summadayze today!! Jason and I will be going to a pre-party shortly, and then will probably wander down to the gig at 2 or 3pm-ish :) It should be a fantastic day! :)
10) And I'm going to Sydney for a week later this month, including the Australia Day long weekend - if anyone wants to catch up, let me know!
