Birštonas - least known Lithuanian resort, part 3

It's time to finish my reports about Birštonas

Last time we stopped near former fountain. Now fountain is absent but in the neighborhood still stands Birštonas church. Church isn't special. This is rather typical neogotic church built in 1900-1909 (arch. Vaclovas Michnevičius (then still he was Waclaw Michnewicz) and Edmundas Frykas):

And my not successful attempt to merge two photos (illumination changed rapidly) )))

Near the church full complex of buildings necessary for parish - priests house and parish house:

But since the town is resort church also tries to be in hand with the town's status: in front of the church you can find guesthouse which belongs to the church:

Near this guesthouse you can find former rowing training center built in 1970. In the old photos from 1970s-1980s you can often see sportsman with the letters CCCP on their shirts: this training center has been often used as a training base for USSR rowing team. Today this base is also used as some sports center and the building itself isn't renovated or reconstructed from 1970:

Then I went near Birštonas day activities center with small sculpture of Mažvydas from 1980s:

And then we are on the recently renovated street-square which forms the center of town:

In principle reconstruction was rather primitive.

Bust of J. Basanavičius from pre-WWII which successfully survived to our days is the dominant of the place:

Other memorial signs on this place could be found also:

One of the bigger modern buildings:

Other buildings on this street-square are rather simple.

Chemistry:

Bank, etc. :

Only one building coming closer to the river attracted my attention. Or it is new, or it is reconstruction of the older building but in it you can see some features of pre-WWII architecture:

Birštonas is near the river but here you can't find a bridge: if you want to reach another coast of the river you need to use small ferry or ... to make a hook of 20 km :)))

Near the river goes long promenade which is probably about 2 km in length. This is the main place to wlak around for the holidaymakers and people on rehabilitation:

Near this promenade you can find most of the most impressive modern cottages in Birštonas:

At the very end of the promenade forest begins and going deeper into the forest you can find ruins of some of the sanatoriums buildings. Or this was bad solution of the urban planners  (15 minutes walk makes sense in such town) or due to some other reasons but those sanatorium buildings don't survived:

Off-topic om the entrance to Birštonas you can find another unfinished building and now you can be sure that you saw all trash in Birštonas :)))

What may be interesting that if you will go deeper into the forest you again find signs of life as this small hotel built probably 10-15 years ago:

Or this even newer hotel but which is located closer to the center:

Mini sculpture park going closer to the center:

Again we see the residential quarters of Birštonas:

Modern Birštonas library building:

The last view to Birštonas and that's all :))
