Yesterday the most important news here was the anouncement by the Ryanair about the opening of their new base. Finally Ryanair crossed the border of Western and Southern European countries and establishes (from May , not from tomorrow) their new base. And it's be Kaunas :))
First Ryanair's base in Central and Eastern Europe and their headquarters for the CEE. It means that Kaunas airport will be not only one of their destinations but the hub.
In May first two Ryanair Boeings will fly from Seattle. And those planes will have notes in the technical passport - "Airport of residence - Kaunas Karmėlava". The number of the planes will grow to 9 in two years. It is surprise that we beat in the competition not only such rival as Riga but also such potent rivals as Warsaw and Budapest. Congratulations for the airport and their leadership for their hard work (it is not easy to convince world's largest low cost airlines to establish their base).
From May the number of Ryanair destinations will increase immediately from current 9 to 18 and it is expected that this number will increase to 40-45 in the next few years.
And finally the most important news - Ryainair announced one million tickets from Kaunas and to Kaunas on this occasion. The price of each ticket is 5 GBP :) Why not to try to go to Stockholm or Berlin in the morning and come back in the evening :) Or to try Paris , London or Barcelona with one night sleep in those cities :)
And finally - two photos of the new Ryan's base. They are not mine but in future I will do my own report :)
