Today I am finishing the reports about Druskininkai. In the last part some dose of modern industrial architecture in Druskininkai:
Today we will make our last "walk" along Druskininkai. Last time we stopped near "Egle" sanatorium. Standing here you can see some of the newest residential multiflats in this town:
On the way from the sanatorium we still can find guest houses or pansions such as this "leisure and creation center of the union of composers":
The streets in the residential part of Druskininkai:
Most of the residential houses in this - farthest from the center - part of the town are mainly "heritage" from 1980s and early 1990s. It looks like this:
Probably the single unique local element here is the decorations on the balconies. I never saw such style of decorations in other places:
Now we will leave the town and will go several km to the north. In the first part of reports it was shown massive new building which could be seen even from the center:
This is Druskininkai snow arena opened only in August 2011. The massive close space snow center operates whole year providing both the opportunities for leisure skiing and possibilities to train for sportsmen even in summer (since the arena don't have similar level competitors by radius of about 1500 km it attracts sportsmen even from such countries as Finland and Sweden). When I was near the arena it still had the name of infamous Snoras bank while now it is called simply Druskininkai snow arena. I wasn't inside the arena since entrance is paid and I don't know if cameras are permitted (some promotional photos from inside could be found on their webpage
http://www.snowarena.lt/lt/apie_mus/galerija). So here we will see only the exterior.
The arena isn't nice but is really massive. Approaching from Druskininkai side we see large hangars in the hilly place:
The main entrance is situated on the highest point but even here massive elevation was used:
Historic photo - still the name of Snoras snow arena seen:
Below the snow track:
It is difficult to walk around the area since in many places walking is restricted:
One of the tracks:
Even users from Bulgaria ?
When you are near the main car road you don't see arena in many places. Only such decorations:
Back to the main entrance:
And now I can go back to home. It is convenient that the arena is near the road to Leipalingis which I used to drive back home:
