I haven't posted on here in nearly 2 months since it seems like no one else posts anymore on livejournal. Anyway, for those who are interested, I have had a busy and enjoyable last couple months.
Our youth group was able to raise close to $1,000 for the AIDS mission in Africa. And we have had several successful fundraisers for the general youth fund as well.
Over the last couple of weeks, Becci and I were able to enjoy a few days in Michigan on three occasions. Over Labor Day weekend we visited Jason and Sarah in Mt. Pleasant to use our Embers gift certificate. Except once we got up there we found that the restaurant was closed for the holiday. But it was good times anyway. And on Labor Day we spent some time with Duke and his new girlfriend Sarah. We putt-putted and saw Pirates of the Carribean 3. It was a good movie, but could have been shorter.
For our anniversary (we've been married 1 year now!) we went to Mackinaw City. On our way, we stopped and had dinner at Embers (they were open) and spent one night at Becci's parents in Traverse City. The next day we mozied up to the Bridge and checked in to our Jacuzzi suite at Holiday Inn Express. Saturday we spent on the Island and that was cool. Then we traveled back and spent the night at my parents house on Sunday.
Last weekend we were in the Grand Rapids area reliving our wedding day experience. Becci's brother Aaron got married, on a friday, at the same church and reception hall. It was a good time spent with family and very relaxing.
Now the crazy summer has begun. This week the youth band is playing at Lake James Christian Assembly each night, and I am transporting them there and back. Sunday we leave for CIY at Milligan College in Tennessee for a week. Which I was just made aware of today after a call with Duke. You see, I had thought it began on Sunday, so we were leaving on Saturday. Luckily, Duke set me straight and let me know it started on Monday. Otherwise we would have been in Tennessee with no place to stay. lol. close one.
Two weeks from tomorrow I will be watching the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park take on the Cleveland Indians. Should be an exciting game since they are battling for 1st in the Central Division. And if the game isn't that great, the fireworks show afterward will be. Seriously, how can it get any better than Tigers Baseball on July 4th with fireworks? It can't.
Did anyone watch Justin Verlander throw a no hitter last week? Tigers baby!
