So last Friday I left with 14 high schoolers and 4 adults to drive to Indy. We were attending the Indiana Christian Youth Convention, which happened to be running in conjuction with the National Missionary Convention this year. I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in a while. Especially exciting was seeing my buddies from Cayuga, IN. Hey Lisa! I know you're reading this. It was great to see you and Kevin and Leann again. Tell everyone else I said hi. I had a good long chat with Kevin and Leann after finding them in the same class on Saturday. Fond memories of Cayuga. Anyway, I also got to see my twin bro (Hey Duke) and his friendly youth minister Gary AND I got to see my college bro (Hey Jason) who I don't think I've seen since my wedding. Have I? I don't know. But it was cool to see all these people and many more from the college or other places. The conference itself was really good, I thought. Challenging speakers and a full day of class, building projects, and prayer. My youth enjoyed it and we had some good discussion about serious issues.
When we got back Sunday, Becci and I took a 3 hour nap before waking up to lead youth group. Not a good idea, but we did it. Monday I started hanging up my Christmas lights (a process that is no where near completion). And last night we had a bunch of kids on our float in the Auburn Christmas Parade. We won first prize in the float category. Then we watched them light the city display of "Season's Greetings" with a moving Frosty on the side of a city office building. Exciting. Tonight Becci and I are driving up to her parents' in Traverse City for Thansgiving tomorrow. But first we are stopping in Lansing to see Deana and Mark Walter's newborn baby. Congrats Walters!
This weekend I will enjoy good eating and good company of family. Bring on the Turkey! Happy Thanksgiving!
