Last weekend I got to play my drums at the Great Lakes Christian College AlumniFest. It was a lot of fun to play, and with very talented musicians. That was friday and saturday. On Sunday I was ordained into ministry at Charlotte Church of Christ. That was very humbling and a moving ceremony. My dad and Becci's dad both had a part in the service and it was cool. I got to play with Charlotte's praise band again and Becci and Duke sang and played a great special song. It was cool. Probably the funniest part was that I gave a little thank you speech at the end and did a perfect impersonation of my dad getting emotional when he speaks. Except I wasn't mocking him, I was actually getting choked up like he does. I don't think I could match that impersonation again if I tried. Kind of freaky.
Last night Becci and I went out on a date to Olive Garden. I got the never-ending pasta bowl. The first bowl was nice and big, but I was dissapointed that the second bowl was like "cup of soup" small and lacking in the sauce department. But for $7.95, who can complain. Then we went to see Gridiron Gang, which wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong - it was an inspirational-beat-the-odds kind of movie and I thought it had a good message. But it didn't meet the standards that classics of it's kind have set ... Hoosiers .. Rudy .. Glory Road .. Remember the Titans. A combination of bad acting and unneccessary swearing was what disappointed me. But there are a lot of movies coming out that I would like to see. If you've seen any of the following, or plan to, give me your opinionated review: All The King's Men, Invincible, The Guardian, The Departed, Fly Boys.
