For starters, I died a thousand deaths at "What is this, Hillbilly Clue?"
I really like the fact that Lestrade isn't the simple small town police officer that bumbles his way through cases. He's just as smart in this instance as he is in the show.
Also the passage that starts:
"Then it was John's turn to bristle - there was something in Molly that he instinctively respected, something of the old-time healer, the midwife, the granny women who waited on birth and death. Taking care of the dead was kinfolks' work, specifically women's, before the men in suits came in with their body-dressers who weren't mothers and daughters and sisters, with their shiny expensive coffins that weren't built by fathers and sons and brothers. John wondered if Molly'd ever cared for the mortal shell of her own kin. She was young, but this far out in the hills, it wasn't impossible. There were still families who kept to the old ways. Very likely her mother had, and damn sure her grandmother did."is ( ... )

Oh yes, we love Lestrade. He's definitely not dumb at all, he's pretty shrewd - has to be. All those old coal towns are pretty rough around the edges, and he's got good instincts.
That passage was a nod to a scene in The Silence of the Lambs where Clarice pretty much takes over an autopsy, and it's with that kind of old-time caring-for-the-dead instinct. Molly doesn't have a big role in that story, but we wanted her to get a little respect ( ... )

That line was Bazy's, and I snorted out loud when I read it too. XD

I think it's possible that this version of Sherlock has written about several hundred different kinds of tobacco spit. Fascinating as he finds it, he doesn't want John's all over his crime scene.

Sherlock will sneer at anybody anywhere for doing anything really, but when it comes to the inexplicable shit he himself does he conveniently forgets to berate himself :)

(Chaw, ick. But ten points if John hits a spittoon. I keep hearing Sherlock saying, For god's sake, John, don't spit on anything important.)
Tire swings will never be the same again.

Also, I feel like the END STATE MAINTENANCE sign is some sort of commentary on Mycroft's relationship with little brother.
Wow, that's so brilliant and true, we're going to pretend we meant to do that! XD

It is ick. But so, so very common. I mean, I've done it, it doesn't taste terrible if you like tobacco (which I do), it's just the spitting. Gack. But I'm a smoker, so I can't really judge.
Tire swings will never be the same again.
I won't think of tubing the same way either.

I was going to say something dirty, but instead I shall take the initiative to keep it classy here in the comments
