Creep as much as you like! We're soaking it up.

I really like the fact that Lestrade isn't the simple small town police officer that bumbles his way through cases. He's just as smart in this instance as he is in the show.

Oh yes, we love Lestrade. He's definitely not dumb at all, he's pretty shrewd - has to be. All those old coal towns are pretty rough around the edges, and he's got good instincts.

That passage was a nod to a scene in The Silence of the Lambs where Clarice pretty much takes over an autopsy, and it's with that kind of old-time caring-for-the-dead instinct. Molly doesn't have a big role in that story, but we wanted her to get a little respect.

I love that tradition, because it keeps death intimate and in the family rather than shipping it away for someone else to deal with. There's still an attitude about death in that area that some might see as fatalistic, but also is realistic and accepting.

I bet John does do that. Pouch, I think. Lestrade might be a can man. Sherlock doesn't give a fuck how he gets his nicotine, but I think he prefers to smoke. (He has, however, practiced his spitting aim.) Mrs. Hudson dips snuff like a lady, the kind that was old-fashioned even in '73 (but you can still buy it even now).
