Hong Kong travelblogue, episode five

Jun 01, 2009 21:33

So I went all George Lucas on y'all and skipped ahead a couple of episodes. I've been too busy at work to post much, but I have pictures all arranged for uploading so hopefully I'll get my ass in gear and write them up.

The reason for the episode skipping is that I want to post the pictures of my most recent adventure: wakeboarding. My coworker Greg seems to go pretty much every weekend when the weather isn't dangerous, and his wife Angela is totally crazy about it. We meet up at Repulse Bay beach and head out for a few hours of sun and fun on a speed boat. Here are the pictures from my first try.

Wakeboarding is basically a cross between water skiing and snowboarding, so the first thing you do is strap on the boots that are attached to the board. Here's our instructor Ben tightening up my boots. The building you can see on the far left is the Building With a Hole.

Next, Ben tells me that I have to keep my arms straight when holding the rope. I had trouble with pulling on the rope too much the whole time I was boarding.

Ben gives me a few more instructions about how to stand up while Angela's friend Voron applies sunscreen to her legs:

Some final words from Ben before I hop in the water. The prominence of Voron's legs in this photo leads me to believe that the photographer was Greg:

Here's me in the water just as Ben pushes the throttle forward:

And BD is up on the first try, mightily impressing the ladies:

That's all for another exciting episode of "Hong Kong Travelblogue," stay tuned for more.
