016 A Series of Unfortunate(?) Events [Action]

[It's a good morning in Luceti today, and Adell is up, dressed, and ready for another day.  Full of training and sparring and just in general goofing off.  This is going to be a good day, he can feel it.   He throws on his coat and prepares to leave.]

[Terra's not too far from the barracks, abusing nearby ears with the sound of her flute 'music'. Please, for the good of Luceti, drag her away to go train.]

[After getting his shirt cleaned and dried, Adell exits the barracks and is promptly greeted by ear-splitting racket not more than a hundred feet down the road.]

What the hell is that?!

[And of course, he goes to investigate. And he sees Terra massacring all that is music playing the flute.]

Terra? What are you doing?

[esper_flight]

[Terra pauses (undoubtedly earning Adell gratitude from any who haven't fled the area) and smiles at him.]

Hello, Adell! I was just playing my flute, that's all. I know I need more practice....

[He resists the urge to rub his ears. Shrill was an understatement. He'll walk up next to her, and hope to all that is holy she doesn't try to play now.]

Hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere. You're not good at something overnight. How've you been lately, anyway?

That's true....

[Terra lowers the flute and sighs a little.]

Another friend from home returned there a few days ago. He's the twin of the one who left before. I guess I should have realized that one couldn't be without the other for long, and I'm glad they'll be together again, but...I'll miss him.

Edgar got sent back? ...Damn. I'm sorry.

[He puts a hand on her shoulder.]

You gonna be okay?

[Flonne is nearby, hiding behind Your Neighborhood Friendly Tree (tm). For now, this seems innocent (unlike that last encounter), so she's just going to listen in.]

[Terra manages a smile for Adell and nods.]

I think so, it will just take time to get used to it.

Hm. I still want to be a musician, but we haven't trained in a while. Are you available? I think I could use the distraction.

[She trails off and looks around worriedly, then lowers her voice.]

...the usual place, or something different? Kefka knows I go there, now. Well, not to that specific spot, but the mountains....

[He keeps his voice down as well.]

If that's the case, we might as well go looking for a new place. Up for a good hike?

[esper_flight]

[She nods, leaning in and keeping her voice lowered.]

That's fine with me. Maybe we'll find a more suitable place, anyway.

[With that, she stands and puts away her flute. The sword Adell got her is hanging from her hip.]

[He'll smile when he sees that.]

I'm sure we will. Shall we go? It's going to be quite the adventure.

[esper_flight]

[She nods eagerly.]

I'm ready! Let's do this.

[That's said at a more normal tone, though she still glances around as though expecting to see Kefka. It's annoying, having to be watchful, but she refuses to be caught off-guard again.]

It's a good thing we're at the edge of town, anyway....

[And so, she picks a direction, heading toward the forest.]

[He follows right at her side.]

Makes it less likely that we'll be seen leaving, huh?

Exactly. I don't like hiding what we do, but it's either that or be harassed about it. And I don't want to get you into trouble, either....

[The last thing she wants is to have Kefka target him simply for being her friend. She stays close, doing her best to remain alert.]

Don't you worry about me. If something happens, I can deal with it myself. And I know you'll always be there for me if I need you.

[esper_flight]

[Terra smiles warmly at him, then peers around.]

I thought I saw a cave, deeper in this direction a while back. If we could find it, that would be perfect.
