[Voice]

...To anyone who knew Sylvia van Hossen, she's been sent back to her own world.

[He sounds more terse about delivering this than he normally would.  Delivering several of these messages over the past few months like this has left him rather tired of doing it.  Still, to anyone who knows him, he's probably more upset than he's letting on.  ( Read more... )

[Ironically, Luka questions it, she understands that it's a miracle to meet these people. That's not what she questions. She understands that no matter how brief the dream is or how many times it turns into a nightmare, it is a wonderful dream that deserves to be lived fully. She questions herself. Her presence there.

This is a dream. A miracle to form bonds that in any other way would be impossible to form.

But she's an android. She's not made to form bonds. She's made to serve a purpose and fill a role. Meeting these people is wonderful, but does it really matter to her? What's the point of her, an android, getting close to anyone but her master?

She liked the people in the house, she lived with them, laughed with them. She has friends outside of the house as well. Usopp, Vash, Haruhi, Winry, Brook, Raven... But they too will leave. Eventually, for sure, all of them will go back to their worlds, Usopp already did even if he returned, but who knows if it will happen again. Luka leans against the wall languidly as she watches her master deal with his anger and frustration.

He too will leave one day.

He will return to his world, to his family, reunite with his mother, father and siblings, the friends he had there. But it's different from anyone else leaving. Because she had made the decision of self erasing all her data the moment he leaves. She doesn't want him to become another part of the genderless and faceless Master figure that she can only recall upon thinking on previous Masters. So it's okay even if he leaves, she doesn't worry about that or about what she will do, say or think. She will be gone too.

But she can't do that for every person that leaves. And erasing the data regarding them would only hurt those who remain even if it would be a plausible solution for her. Maybe she should just keep herself from storing that data, from meeting more people that will be lost sooner or later. She has Adell and Charle, Usopp, Vash, Haruhi, Winry, Brook and Raven, she has more than enough, there's no need or point in adding more. Right?]

[Adell can't read minds. It's probably a good thing he can't.

But with a heavy sigh, he speaks, without turning around. He knows you were watching him.]

Luka...

[She doesn't have a mind to read. Just an endless code of ones and zeros.

She blinks, slightly surprised by him talking to her.]

The house has become bigger again.

It felt like for awhile you couldn't breathe, there were so many of us here.

...but I liked it like that, with everyone so close. Now it just feels... a lot more empty. But not completely.

Androids don't need to breath, either way.

[She... Liked it better that way too? She can't say. It was pointless after all.]

[Adell quirks an eyebrow at that, and he turns his head to look at her.]

Luka... are you all right? ...And please, be honest with me.

[He knows how you are by now. Sometimes.]

[She just looks at him. The words "I'm fine" want to come out but so do the words "I'm not". Does it really matter how she is, though?]

Charlotte is going to be really hurt, more than whatever the Malnosso can do to her now.

[The answer doesn't reassure him. Luka dodged the question, which he knows means she's not okay. But more so, her answer is still correct. This was a feeling he already had.]

...All we can do is be there for her when she gets back. The two of us will just have to do the best we can for her.

What will we do?

Whatever we can do. Be there for her. Try to make her happy, make her feel better. Somehow. We can't make the pain go away, but we can so what we can to lessen it, and help her move on.

Move on, or move back to when no one she knew from her world was here?

Move on. We can't just pretend that Sylvia was never here. That wouldn't be fair. Not to Charlotte, and not to Sylvia. People just can't revert back to what things were before, not so long as those memories exist.

And those memories are... precious. Important. They define a part of who we are. It hurts not having Sylvia here, but... I wouldn't take it back.

Even with memories, the situation is the same. She had memories of being with her friends before as well. That those memories take place here or there makes no difference to the fact that she's without them once more and has to again learn to live without them and with the uncertainty of when she will see them again.

Yes, but it's a matter of treasuring what happens here as well as at home that matters too. In a sense, it is adapting to being without her again, but you have to press forward with the new memories and experiences that they've given you.

Meaning Sylvia has had an impact all over again. But it's moving on because you accept that impact as part of your life and carry on as best you can.

Press forward to where? There's nothing more here than this, you're trapped along with several others, sometimes people you know come, most of the time people leave only to be replaced by new ones. And all there's to do in reality is sit and wait until your time comes, or you're drafted for a war you don't want to fight and killed forever by the Third Party.

To think that you're moving on in this place seems as a naive idea.

Have you ever heard the phrase that it's "not the destination, but the journey" that matters? I mean move on with your life so you can continue that journey.

Even if it feels like we're spinning our wheels in Luceti right now, as utterly frustrating as it is, I refuse to believe that this is it for us. I still believe we're gonna set things right eventually. I say accepting the wheels spinning and not doing something about it is more foolish than trying to make the best of a bad situation.
