The half-day (about 13 hours long for those that didn't get the title's joke) has now come and gone... And this year, it felt like a 3-day convention truncated into a 1-day digest version. With around 500 attendees over the course of the day, there was certainly enough activity to warrant the larger space used this year. The dealer room itself was BIG, with several headline dealers. Going in, I was unsure how that would play out, since previous crowds have been small. But it turned out just fine and it seems like every one of the dealers had a good time. Like most conventions, I didn't get to see anything outside the dealer room, so I had to deal with the entertainment found in my area of the room. And WOW was there FUN in the dealer room this year! My booth extended across an exhaustive 24-feet, taking a full wall of the room. And above the booth was a HUGE, 20'+ screen, just so I could play DVDs on it all day long. (Yes, it was the Times Square pimp setup!) And of course, I hung with several of my Ohio peeps whenever I could in the midst of the crowds. Although my
Limedust peeps weren't on site, the krazy krew of Marlee, Kat, CJ and associates sure were. Thanks again for the snacks throughout the day! Like the past 2 years, Animarathon proved to be a fun mini-con, and I look forward to see how next year's turns out.
Other happenings
Besides my convention and web site work, my life's been obsessed with
StepMania, the Dance Dance Revolution simulator for the PC. Combined with song packs and countless other add-ons and upgrades, I am recreating the arcade experience on my computer. (I just need an Ignition Pad now.) For over a year now, I've wanted to be able to play both my XBox games, Ultramix 1 and 2 in the same game. Now I can, and I can even create my own custom tracks (an option sorely missing from the games on the hard-drive-equipped XBox). I'm currently working on my first song pack, which will include:
The Immortals - Techno Syndrome 7" mix (from Mortal Kombat fame)Glen A. Larson and Stu Phillips - Knight Rider TV ThemeSee-Saw - Obsession (from .hack//SIGN)and several others...These should see a public release by July. And they're gonna ROCK!
