Harry viewed the last few weeks with mixed feelings. On the one hand, he was keeping himself busy; he'd done two out-of-town training missions and finished the reports mere days afterward and had gone out with Jon enough times that, embarrassingly enough, the rest of the Aurors-in-training had noticed their relationship ( ... )

Pansy was feeling rather smug, if she said so herself. She had wanted to make Draco's first birthday without his parents and the Malfoy Manor a special one, and she felt that she had achieved that. She had planned everything down to the last detail, from the guest list to the colour of the tablecloths.

And she was happily going to kill whoever had ruined it by trying to break into her house ( ... )

Draco had taken a few cautious steps into the severely dishevelled room when he felt the air shifting slight behind him of some Apparating into the room. He spun around and levelled his wand preparing to hex none other than Harry Potter.

"You have two seconds to explain your purpose for being here, Pott --" Draco's sentence fell short as Pansy stalked into the room with murder in her eyes. He barely had time to react as the resounding smack on the back of his head filled the room. His free hand flew to where he had been unrightfully injured and furiously rubbed at it to dull the pain.

"What the hell happened to your library? I believe the more pressing question is what in the seven hells was that for? I do not care how apt you are with that wand of yours, Pans, but you must consider me irreversibly mental to even consider allowing you to go into a situation like this ever." He dropped his hand with a huff after realising his ministrations were not aiding him in the least. "And in such a lovely dress too; the day I allow you to face ( ... )

Harry was a little too busy staring at the wand being pointed at him (by Draco Malfoy again) to even think about answering the question, his own wand staying up even as Pansy walked into the room and smacked Draco in the back of his head. Under any other circumstance, he would have found it funny, but he was too concerned to be amused. The library was trashed. This security breach wasn't an accident.

Katie now moved from behind Harry to stand next to him and assess the damage, something he was grateful for since it allowed him to keep his attention on Draco and make sure he wasn't about to hex them for kicks. While Draco and Pansy talked, he turned to Katie. "So what do you think?"

"Well, I'm pretty sure they didn't apparate in. I think the only way we were able to apparate in here was because the wards are already down in this room. Whoever came in came in either through the floo," she pointed at the fire place. "Or maybe a primitive Muggle way, like through the window. That is, if they weren't already in the house at the ( ... )

Pansy simply raised an eyebrow at Draco's complaining. "I wanted to see if it would be possible for me to knock some of my sense into your head, as you're quite obviously lacking in any at the moment." Her ire flaring again, she turned to him with her hands on her hips. "You don't 'allow' me to do anything, you big prat, and did it not once occur to you that I might worry about you just as much as you worry about me? I'd honestly like to see how you would react if I were to leave you stranded like that." She punched him in the arm for good measure.

However, his comment about her dress mollified her slightly, and she went back to looking around her ruined library, twitching her fingers in her skirt in a sign of affection for the fine material. She honestly wasn't sure what someone would have wanted to steal from this particular room. While the Parkinsons had always been very proud of their library (they did house many valuable books), and they had some lovely art and crystal set about the room, some of the other rooms most ( ... )
