Disclaimer: I unfortunately don't own any Johnny's. That Kitagawa-guy got them first... So I only own the plot.

Gratitude and Love

The scream could be heard troughout the whole house. It was even harder to my ears, because I was lying next to him. I woke up in shock, completely disorientated by this sudden wake-up call.

“Jun!” I screamed, but he didn’t seem to hear me. He just lay next to me, his eyes wide and big with fear. He had grabbed the blanket so tight that his knuckles were going white. I grabbed his shoulders and started shaking him. That helped. Slowly his expression changed and his eyes met mine, tears dwelling up in them.

“Sho…” he softly said, before bursting into tears. I pulled him up and held him close. My arms were tightly wrapped around his body, letting him know that I was there. He clinged to my shirt and held on to me.

“It’s okay,” I whispered. “It’s all over. Your nightmare is over. I’m here now.”

He just kept on crying, sobbing softly into my chest. I shushed him and carressed his back, letting him calm down. He stayed like that for a while. I felt his breathing getting even. After a couple of minutes he had calmed down enough to tell me his dream. He softly started, with the trace of  fear on his beautiful face.

“I was lying in the grass. I could feel it’s touch. The sunlight was bright. So bright I couldn’t see a thing. But it was warm, it was nice. I felt you close, and I knew it was alright.” He said, some tears still flowing over his cheeks. I wanted to wipe them away, but at the moment I let him go, he clenched to me even harder. He pushed himself against me, not wanting me to let him go.

“But suddenly you were gone. I couldn’t feel you anymore. Your scent was gone. All I could feel were empty clothes beside me. I tried to see were you had gone, but the light shone so bright that I couldn’t even open my eyes. I called for you, waiting for an answer. But you didn’t. You were gone.”

I couldn’t speak, captivated by his nightmare.

“Then a strong wind was coming up, blowing away the sunlight, the grass and your scent and clothes. It brought darkness with it. Everything turned dark and now, I could see where I was. I was lying on a rock with the wild and dark sea everywhere around me. Darkness was coming upon me and the wind was so strong that couldn’t hear myself think. I screamed your name, but I was alone. There was nobody around. No one to speak to, to cling to, to hug or to laugh with. I’ve never felt so alone…” He started to tremble again, thinking about his dream. I just kept on hugging him, not wanting to let him go. I felt tears forming in my own eyes.

“And that’s when I saw it.” Jun whispered.

“What?” I quietly asked.

“You.”

I tried to look him in the eyes, but he wouldn’t let go off me. He grasped my shirt tighter.

“You were lying there in the water, big waves rolling over your body and turning you over. They smashed you upon my rock and left you there. Your body was white and wrinkled. Your lips were blue. And your eyes…” He stopped speaking as his voice broke with pain. I could barely hear him as he continued.

“You were staring up to the dark sky. I screamed your name, I kissed you, I tried to reanimate you… But you didn’t see me. You didn’t react at all.”

This time he looked me right in the eyes as he told me. I saw his pain, his fear and worry.

“You were dead.” he said, as quiet as a breeze. The first tear came down from his eye, followed by many more.

And I felt tears falling down from my own eyes. I just stared at him as he stared at me. I couldn’t say anything for a moment. We were both quiet, just staring at each other like that. I tried to imagine what it would be like to see Jun dead before my own feet. His eyes no longer shining, his voice no longer ringing. His heart no longer beating in sync with mine. His love, his laugh, his kisses, his touches… Everything that I loved so dear taken away from me. I felt my heart breaking into pieces by just the thought of it.

As pain spread throughout my body, I heard him calling me from afar. I felt him tugging on my shirt while his worried voice got to me. As on auto-pilot, I immediately pulled him in my embrace. Softly I stroke his hair, as he made my shirt wet with his tears.

“It’s all right.” I said, my voice broken. “You know it’s a nightmare, right? I would never leave alone. I will try my absolute best to be with you.”

I grabbed his shoulders and forced him to look at me. His eyes were all red.

“Jun,” I started, my tears softly running down. “I will not leave you. I love you. I really do.”

He nodded, a little smile breaking through. He wiped his tears as he did with mine.

“I know.” he whispered. “And I love you too.” This time, he broke free from my grip and hugged me, kissing my forehead. “I know it’s a dream, but it was so real. I’ve never felt so alone.” he softly said.

“Well, know that I will always be right here. Right next to you. Whenever you need me.”

He let go of me and looked in my eyes. A small smile of gratitude played around his lips

“Thank you.”

And then he kissed me. A soft, sweet, wonderous kiss full of love.
