Cuts, for everyone's sanity.

This morning as I was getting ready for work, the phone rang. J got it because I was locked in the bathroom trying to figure out which end of an eyelash curler gets less than 1/2 an inch from my eyeball. It was someone who was redoing her office, and wants to use our photos to do it! Wow. That's kinda... cool. She wants them -huge- though, and printed on that canvas-y paper. The first one she chose isn't my favourite, because I don't think I framed the shot as well as I should have, but apparently it exactly fits the style she wants in her office so hey. J is off excitedly checking out where we can get 3 foot prints on canvas-y paper.

We decided we were going out to dinner last night because we've been SO good lately. We packed up our niece, nephew, and daughter and headed out to our favourite Asian buffet (Tin Tin, for those of you who haven't guessed by now). It took us an hour to get there in the traffic. I fell asleep in the car, because it was warn and cozy and there was music playing (ok, it was Queen, but Elizabeth -really- loves "We Will Rock You" ). When we got there, the restaurant was closed because the power was out due to the thunderstorm. We ended up at Golden Corral, not my favourite place in the world, but the kids love it. Elizabeth amused us by carefully placing one pea at a time on a cracker, and lowering her head to eat it. Somewhat like a T-rex snarfing up an outhouse with a lawyer in it (or a locked ball, if you've ever played the Jurassic Park pin).

Later, when it was bedtime, she crawled into bed willingly enough, with just her usual reminders for bedtime snugglies (my green bear, my pink bear, my butterfly bear, my nine-dozen pillows, my Swiper, my Dora, my Piglet, my bink, my singing pooh, my tuck-tuck), when all of a sudden she starts with a new one. Hmm, I think, never heard this one before... my what? It sounds like she's saying 'Mufasa' and we don't have any Lion King toys. Well, it turns out that she has a stuffed dalmatian toy that our niece gave to her when she was born. She's never before shown any interest in this particular toy. However, the guy who lives across the hall has a dalmatian named 'Pasha' (that Elizabeth didn't actually -like-, btw, the one or two times she's seen her), so Elizabeth was asking for 'My Pasha.' Bizarre little child.

I ended up not playing any WoW last night, because I got home, logged in, and the power went out (for all of 3 seconds, but long enough to reboot my machine and piss me off). So I went into the bedroom and packed another couple of boxes. We have NEVER been this organised about packing before. Ever. I'm so happy. :) Mostly because this is such a sense of 'permanence' even if it's not our 'forever house.' It's a house that will have a place for everything. I intend to nest. But anyway, I digress. We cranked up the laptop to continue watching the first season of 'Battlestar Galactica' and I rustled through my knitting bag. I decided that a) I want some circular needles to finish off the neck of the striped tank so I couldn't work on it b) I haven't decided what to do with the purple cardigan and wasn't feeling creative so I couldn't work on it c) I'd just worked on the white tank the previous night and finished the back, and god forbid I should work on the same project two nights in a row. So I started the bootie and jacket set for my new neice/nephew that will be born in August. I finished up the booties (in a nice soft green boucle - a pattern out of "Hip Knits") and got about 1/4 of the jacket done. The booties are so cute, and tiny. I don't remember Elizabeth's feet ever being so small. And... it made me a little sad, because I was looking at this pattern earlier in the year, hoping to make it for -my- next baby. I know it's something I just need to get over, and really, most of the time I'm ok. But every once in awhile something happens that just twists my insides, and it becomes "don't think about a blue monkey." But anyway. Now I have -4- projects to finish up. Gah. I was doing so well at keeping it under control. :)
