A morning flower, afterglow,
A charming snip of mistletoe,
These dreams are stars across the sky
As longing for you here I lie.
And life is trouble, life is pain
Soothed only by deep love's refrain
Which calms my heart time and again,
Like feeding tigers in a pen.
O, love, I say eternity
Is too few hours to spend with thee;
A mortal life's not near enough
To share the troubles and times rough.
Yet here I lay, the hours passing,
My adoration softly massing,
And life goes on - and without you -
The dust of ages passing through.
I wish to stay right by thy side,
I pray that thou will let me ride
The waves of life and torrents of trouble
While we pass by in love's soft bubble.
