The communicator clicks on - video feed - revealing a set of clothes similar to the ones Franziska is currently wearing; they’re sitting on top of an thick, old book that will look unremarkable to the vast majority of people, but in fact, it’s the very first law textbook Franziska received as a gift from her father when she started studying to become a prosecutor, and therefore dredges up all sorts of unfortunate memories she’d rather not mention, thanks very much - so of course, she doesn’t. After remaining on the items for a moment, she turns the camera around to face herself and begins to address it directly.)
Taking into account the rather personal and worthless nature of some of the other items received by the citizens of the city, I suppose I’m meant to be relieved that my … ‘gifts’ were of a much less foolish sort, but I’m afraid that’s not exactly the first sentiment that comes to mind, considering that, despite this sudden burst of generosity, the fact remains that I’m still being held against my will in an unfamiliar location with little hope of escape.
