i hate religious freaks.
they wrap themselves in words of love, in "no jesus, no peace... know jesus, know peace" license plate frames, little fishies on their business ads and obnoxious bumper stickers that back up their 'holier than thou' outlook. then they lift their noses up in the air, ignore their fellow human beings, throw money at pretending to love the noble work of missionaries in other countries while ignoring the suffering in their own neighborhoods, and even ignore the laws of the land and the rules of common decency!
it would be one thing if they were so loving and pious, at least on sundays, but even while standing in the sanctity of a church, the religious freaks and hypocrites will still go to great lengths to snub the newbies, or even snub their fellow parishioners. they play politics in the heirarchy of the church and then get pissed off and scandalized by the politics that show up in local and nation-wide governments.
how many people who voted to impeach clinton as an adulterer are voting to impeach bush as a murderer? hmm? as shakespere said, methinks thou doth protest too much... because all those religious freaks who get so pissed off when other people do something 'they don't approve of' are likely guilty of it ten times over in their own personal lives.
and on a more specific, personal rant, those people who so righteously defend their religion as the only true benevolent and worthy way of life do not care that they piss off and inconvenience other people around them just to break the law and pretend that they're not hurting anything, not wasting anyone elses' time. ...after all, they have to get to mcdonalds and order happy meals for all twelve darling little bible-study brats, so they might as well go through the drive thru with their big van and block an entire street to do it. ::scowling::
but tell me. how does that work? people share beliefs and customs and values, supposedly, and they go to church, they tithe, they confess, they organize fundraisers... and then they go home, swear at their wife and call their girlfriend, or they judge the people they pass on the street, or at their church, or at their work, or anywhere, based on appearances. "judge not, lest ye be judged" does not apply to the believer who sizes up a stranger?
it makes no sense to me. if they just showed one iota of common sense even, forget decency, maybe i could understand, but after a lifetime of trying to understand, i just give up! i have my faith and my moral code and my beliefs, but i think religion has become a disease that is choking the decency out of my country. and i apparently felt like ranting.
::sigh::
rant off. i'll go watch robin hood. the errol flynn version that was filmed in my town, because my town used to be cool like that.
