So today and tomorrow are reading period days, then Saturday is my first final in calc. It's kinda hard to study for calc, so I'm just re-doing all of my assignments from this semester. I don't think the final is going to be that difficult, it's just that I really badly want an A in this class.
Two nights ago was pretty damn stressful. You won't believe it... for the past few days I had been typing up a paper for psych 267. I had been saving it constantly into the "my documents" folder, but when I closed microsoft word to send it to myself via an email attachment, the file DISAPPEARED. I'm not kidding...I looked in my documents, the temp folder, recent docs, my desktop and it was NOWHERE. So I start to panic, because it was 8pm Tuesday night--my essay being due at 9am wednesday. So I quickly pack up my laptop and walk to ITS to see if they could help me find/recover my paper. Dave starts up a global search, searches through temp, hidden folders, and all that jazz...and there was nothing. Eventually he finds a broken link to what used to be my paper, but it would not open. After about 45 minutes of his searching, I had to go to work (from 10pm-midnight), so I told him that it was ok--I would just start from scratch. I am in tears by this point, because I had so much research and had written everything from an abstract, to literature review, methods, expected results, and my references... then I saw one of my friends, Eli, and I told him what had happened and he was determined to find it. He tried the same things that Dave did, but then he thought he would run a document recovery program, and through this he was able to find it!! I owe Eli so much. I don't know what the hell happened (maybe a weird virus??), but I am pretty damn lucky.
Moral of the story: BUY A FLASK DRIVE AND USE IT...ALWAYS...
