I'm not a fan of telemarketers, but I found a new low today. First, they're calling fairly early in the morning on the 4th of July. I think calling on national holidays is kind of smart, but more than anything annoying. If I'm at home, I'm finally having a day off. Let me enjoy my sleep in please?!! 2nd, the guy never stopped calling me Mrs., even when I corrected him. That's 2 strikes, and here's the third.
He approached his charity like McDonalds. "You want fries with that." They do this intentionally at McDonalds, as it's subliminally telling you that indeed, you do want fries. Instead of talking about the opportunity to help people, he sold it as "Are you giving me $25 or $35 dollars today?" Really, I had made no promises, and when I politely told him that no thank you, I won't be making a contribution, instead of the usually polite, thank you for your time, have a good day, he just hung up. I have a sneaking suspicion that the McDonalds sale will not work for the Police fund this year.
