I remember humidity’s weight, and how it lifted with the last rays of the sun. Cool winds set in around us from the north, blowing away our senses as we hung there, effortless, weightless. Birds spun above our heads as a feathery halo, swooping downwards to lay wreaths of kisses upon our crowns. Smiles came over us like phantoms - the mysteries and comforts of good company seeping into our skin.

I extended my legs and stretched out my bare toes, watching them as we swung forward, wishing they could reach all the way to the Tennessee, dip into those crystal waters, and break the reflection of the moon. But I wouldn’t want to harm the view.

It was a beautiful night with a beautiful friend.

As the birds fell away and evening shadowed everything along the cliffs to the east, I let out a long, contented sigh, and kicked at the ground to send us swinging one last time.
