I forgot to mention that I judged the YouthRock competition on Friday night! It was really fun, even if I was the only person on the judging panel with any industry experience (and a mere six months of it, at that!). Nearly all of the bands were really great. One was rubbish (and their MySpace advertises the fact that they are looking for a new singer, which is cruel, but necessary), and a lot were merely proficient, doing decent pop-punk by numbers. But some of them were actually rather incredible! One of the winners, Mild Ryan, have this crazy piano pop thing going on. Another band, who I desperately wanted to be the other winner, were called Something In Common and came from Erina. Their set was really ambitious post-hardcore stuff. They started with the stage back-lit in red, and it built from an acoustic intro to a feedback-laden industrial-sounding number, and it was just so mature and impressive. I didn't get home until 2am, but I did get a free t-shirt and all the finger food I could eat.
Anyway, the point of this point is mainly this. I went to Something In Common's MySpace, and a girl left them this comment:
"Hiii guys.
How are you'se?
You'se were SO good today at Gosford!
I'll be back to watch you'se tomorrow for sure!"
She is one of the few people her age who uses punctuation and capitalisation in their MySpace messages, but she has said "you'se" three times, obviously under the mistaken impression that it is an actual and acceptable word! Ooh, it makes me as mad as it makes me sad.
Today, I'm just writing and phaffinf about in my pyjamas. Thank God I have some pasta here, because the last thing I want to do is get dressed and have to leave the house to get food!
