Merry Christmas

Good news has come out of the holidays: my mother is fine. When she had her most recent mammogram they "saw a shadow," and considering her previous history they wanted to be aggressive. So she went back for another one on the 23rd, and a sonogram, both of which convinced them that she's fine and it's nothing to worry about. I am relieved, as is she.

My Christmas was actually kind of sucked this year. I got everything I wanted (I'd already had it--we don't bother to open gifts anymore), but it was just not a good day for me. I went to bed really late (early...I'm nocturnal), and then my parents decided to watch action movies on surround sound at 9:00 a.m., waking me up. I told them to turn it down, but ten minutes later it was just as loud. So I got next to no sleep. When I finally did nod off, my uncle came over and I had to get up again. He left and I went to take a nap, leaving strict instructions for my parents to wake me if my phone rang. Well, they're good at that too, and I missed both Probst and Liz calling. But Liz did catch me later in the evening, seriously on her way onto the plane to the Motherland.

My birthday was hilarious. No one was home yet because it was kind of an awkward weekend, but Amy Peasley and Zbegner came out. We went to the Saloon and got a little karaoke action going on, and at 3:00 a.m. we were all wasted, talking about snowboarding. Why don't we go tomorrow? we said. Because making wasted decisions is a good idea.

And it was! We had a hell of a good time, and I was sore for three days. Amy Peasley lost her snowboarding virginity, and she wasn't half-bad at it. Zbegner's Caddy broke down halfway there, then just randomly started up again. It was kind of hilarious, but not.

A little over a month from now I'll be on my way to Germany! I'm so excited I don't even know what to do with myself. But I would really like to tie up some lose ends before I go. I won't find out if I'm going back to school or not until after I leave (probably). While I'm there, I'll need to do some more organizing for Heather's bridal shower and bachelorette party. My bridesmaid dress will probably come in sometime in February, so I'll have to have Heather's mom pick it up and hold it for me until I get back. Things to do, things to do. But I'm excited to see where Probst lives and Paris, Brussels, Munich, and whatever else we decide to visit. Two months is a lot of time to see things.

But sadly, I have to go to work today. Massive outtage tonight though, so at least that. Weeeeeeee.

Quote of the day: I had a dream you slept with Tony...
