Saturday my car broke down. I think it might be dead for good this time, but I'm going to call my parents for a second opinion. (It's nice to have mechanics in the family.)
Sunday I went to the Renaissance Festival with
bsingle and
chiffon4. We hung out with
ursulagoddess. (It was her last day working there for this year.)
Also I have news on my half-assed search for a full-time job. My department finally posted the vacancy for a full-time worker. I applied last Wednesday. Due to the U bureaucracy, I won't hear back about it for awhile. Here's how bureaucracy works: Instead of applying directly to the department for which you want to work, you send your application to HR, which looks it over and sends it to the department if you meet the basic requirements written by the department. So I end up taking my application to work and having my boss fax it to HR, who will look at it and then (because I'm applying for a job in my current department) send it back to my boss after a period of 4-5 days (because HR is backlogged and is behind in processing applications). Because simplicity is overrated, don't you know.
