Boston: Day 3

May 13, 2010 00:07

Today was the third and final full day of the conference. Tomorrow's just a half day and many people end up skipping it, anyway. There are still a few sessions of interest to me so I'll show up for them but I really want to come back to my hotel and at least walk around a bit more and get some pictures before leaving. We'll see how I'm feeling.

I think I caught someone's cold because I woke up feeling terrible and skipped the morning sessions entirely. I did eventually drag myself to the afternoon sessions but came back to the hotel and crashed when they were over. I missed the party tonight and left my account rep to eat dinner alone.

Today's sessions were a mix. The first one I went to was good but the information they gave was somewhat disappointing. It's still early in the release of that product so maybe things will get better. The second one was great, but mostly a repeat of the same information from last year. It still had some good stuff. The last one was kind of lame. I was expecting more information than they gave and I was only interested in half the things they were talking about anyway. I did get to walk around the vendor area after lunch, though. That was neat. I've discovered I'm not interested in the marketing crap they give away at the booths any more. That used to be a big deal. I'd try to pick up something fun for everyone back in the office. Now I just want information and there was little to be had. I did still walk away with a shirt, some drum sticks and a picture with Blues Brothers impersonators (it was part of a booth theme). I took some pictures of a few booths for my co-workers that I thought they would find amusing (and they did).

After the last session I took a land taxi time back to the hotel where I crashed for a few hours. I eventually woke up, ordered room service and sat down to get some work done. I'm hoping to get to bed before dawn tonight. In some ways, I think I'll be glad to get back home where I can get work done during normal hours instead of having to do it after a full day of conference stuff. Or we could not be as busy right now. Ha ha ha. Oh well.
