Quiet Week keeps on rockin'

Actually, it’s not really a ‘quiet week’ for me, as I’ve been very busy for the last few days. I’ve just not been busy with anything remotely interesting, that’s all.

Childrens’ book
It’s been a week since I emailed the editors of my two local newspapers and they haven’t responded. This is kind of disappointing, but then, since I’m only the illustrator of this book rather than a triumphant first-time writer, I suppose that does make it a bit less newsworthy from my angle. “Fourteen-year-old father of twelve ASBO sets bus full of pensioners on fire and is awarded £1m due to Home Office blunder” is probably more the kind of story they’re on the look-out for.

Inferno
I’ve just checked my diary and spotted that an old friend has rather inconsiderately chosen to get married on the same day as the next Inferno, so I guess I’ll be dancing that particular night away in a suit at a wedding disco. And probably not even a rock-themed one, like hippymetaller and wispy_beard’s was. Perhaps if I get roaringly drunk and shout out “he’s a fucking cunt” during the speeches, that might teach him not to mess with me? Yes, I think it will.

HG Illustration
My art business doesn’t seem to be doing well financially. This is largely due to lots of promotional companies who’ve contacted me over the last year with empty promises to sell my work for me, for a monthly fee. I’m going to have to cut all these subscriptions, as well as scaling back the number of paintings in my eBay shop, since nobody’s bought any for more than a year and it’s costing me a fortune.

I’ll take another look at this situation next year - if it’s not improved, I may have to cease trading as a freelance illustrator, at least for a bit, as it just seems to be getting unviable... I seem to be getting less work in from the music magazines I've been involved with too; I think they might have have new editorial staff and they're changing all the articles around, so some of 'my ones' no longer exist. This doesn’t mean I’d give up on it entirely though, I suppose I’d just divert all my efforts into trying to do more Flash animations. When I have some more completed, I’m hoping to set up a new website dedicated to them, in a similar sort of style to fat-pie.com or rathergood.com. That might take me a while, but we must all have our long-term plans.

Work
I seem to have entered another phase of making blu tak sculptures.
